What is Ergo Month?

October is National Ergonomics Month, the HFES initiative to help evangelize the benefits of Human Factors to the unknowing masses.

What are we doing for Ergo Month?

SJSUHFES will be kicking off a two-track initiative beginning in Ergo Month:

Taking a page from Eugenia Kolanski's article in the HFES Bulletin about freelance writing, our second initiative is to get an HFE related article published where it might be read by people who don't yet know what HFE is.

Ways to get this done:

-publish an interesting HFE story to a blog, then post the story to digg and try to get it on the front page.

-Use the contact list of local media orgs generated by Host Committee to find an outlet for your creativity!

Keep in mind that while we find HFE fascinating, it will be tough to get anyone to read an article only about HFE. Our best bet is to find an audience, find out what that audience wants to read about, then write an article about how HFE ties into that. Examples:

• Video games and usability
• Video games and simulator training
• Ergonomics and the elderly
• Ergonomics in your workplace (get it published in your company newsletter!!)
• Human Factors in automotive safety
